Unable To List Firewire Devices 10.6.8
I think on current Macs you do this by shutting down, then holding the power button down till the power light blinks rapidly, then you let go, and get a long I read that it sometimes takes a long time so I left for about 10 minutes.. which reminds me of what happens when I delete AppleHPET.kext. Help would be much appreciated, since I already spend days to get the system like it is and my wife is already on aggro. Finally the culprit is the Cable which was bundled with the Presonus Device. There were still some hiccups but, fingers crossed, everything seems to be up to spec for now. the really weird thing is that my ext fw hd worked at some point after the reinstall - but i don't remember at what stage - but certainly after 10.6.4 update. It works good on a OLD Macbook with FW-400. Have tried before and after sleep. I am not sure if step 7 (PRM reset) actually contributed, some people have found it necessary and some not.
