Here's what the problem looks like: Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010 users try to open a Microsoft Word or Excel document and cannot do so. Therefore, Outlook treats it as a safe file name extension. Interestingly the other day I received a document created in MS Works which could not be opened in Word on either a PC or Mac but could be opened directly from It not, save it to the hard drive and then change the extension to a program that you hve installed and see if you can open it.
