When you open an attachment in Outlook, a temporary copy of the attachment is created in a secure folder on your computer. Click the Other tab. I have added the sender's email address to the safe > sender's list. Once you're in the Set Associations applet, scroll through the list to find the ".doc", ".docx" and any other file types that you want to open in Word.
Look for the "Associate a file type or protocol with a program." Click that link and you will see the Set Associations Control Panel applet. The user has Owner permissions on the folders. To actually "manage" the list, please note the Manage: drop down list at the bottom of the page. It was working fine last week but now, this is as far as I can get.
